LinkedIn is a great opportunity to present yourself. You can list a summary, details of past work history, your current employment, and other pieces of information. All of this can present a picture of you, but by itself doesn’t convey credibility.
LinkedIn has built in features that help you establish credibility. All you need to do is a little extra work and credibility is yours to be gained. Lets take a look at your credibility opportunities: |

Research has shown that over 65 percent of employee performance problems result from strained relationships rather than from deficiencies in skill levels or motivation. Supervisors who handle conflict in a timely and appropriate manner will improve performance and help lower turnover.
The four basic principles for dealing with conflict are: Listen. Don't assume you understand the problem(s) involved with the employee - let them tell you. Hear both sides of the story before jumping to any conclusions. Get the Facts. When employees are upset, they tend to describe their reasons in a vague manner. Ask for a description and details about specific events or behavior. Talk to as many persons involved as possible. Once the emotions are taken out, you should be left with the facts. |

In the previous article I talked about potential ways that you could use LinkedIn. In Part 2 I’m going to focus on a specific use today: Using LinkedIn to enhance your networking.
The core of LinkedIn revolves around connecting to other business professionals, which is networking. Networking exclusively on LinkedIn, though, ignores the human element of face to face interaction. Understanding, once again that LinkedIn is a tool, how do you use it to enhance your other networking? I do a lot of networking in my local chamber. When I first joined the chamber I hadn’t really gotten active on LinkedIn. At meetings I would try to meet as many people as possible, but in a room full of 50 people and only 30 minutes of open networking it was hard to meet everyone. |

Are you worried that you won’t be able to save the money you need to send your children to college or to have a comfortable retirement? Well, you’re not alone, and there are steps you can take to get started. Learning about the kinds of savings, investment, and retirement plans available to you is a big step on the road to financial freedom.
The First Step: Establish a Spending Plan To get started, use a worksheet to formulate a monthly spending plan. This is the amount you can spend without making any changes in your monthly savings habits. A recommended savings rate is 10 percent of your take-home pay. Over time, you may be able to find ways to save even more. As you identify categories where you will reduce expenses, |

When I first started my business 8 years ago my partner and I used to talk a lot about getting off of the island. Simply put, most of our marketing was directed from the office and we spent no time networking in the business community. We were fortunate that we were able to generate decent business without doing so.
About 3 years ago I decided to finally make the jump and join the North Fulton chamber. While my business did not skyrocket immediately, networking has produced a significant amount of business. If your networking is not producing the results you expect, there’s one little word that could make a major difference...Activity. |
